Texas State University, University Libraries, will be hosting the 4th annual Greater Austin Area Information Literacy Symposium on Friday, January 11, 2019. The Symposium will take place at the Alkek Library, on the main campus of Texas State University. Librarians from all types of libraries are invited to join the discussion and share their thoughts and ideas.

Welcome to #GAAILS2019

The purpose of Greater Austin Area Information Literacy Symposium (GAAILS) is to focus on information literacy initiatives in public, school, academic, and special libraries in the Austin area. Sessions will explore timely topics and practical solutions in information literacy and library instruction, and will allow time to share ideas and initiatives and develop relationships across the library field. All library professionals in the Austin area with an interest in information literacy are welcome to attend and to apply to present.

Call for Proposals: We are now accepting proposals for the Greater Austin Area Information Literacy Symposium (GAAILS) 2019. Any topics related to information literacy are welcome in the following session types: 

  • 20-minute presentations 
  • 45-minute panel presentation (good for 3+ presenters) 
  • 7-minute lightning talks
  • 45-minute Round table discussion 

Proposals will be accepted though November 19, 2018
Acceptance Notifications will be sent by December 14, 2018

GAAILS is a traveling conference. It began in 2016 at Huston-Tillotson, hosted by ACC in 2017, held at UT-Austin in 2018, and continued by Texas State University in 2019. If you and your institution are interested in hosting in 2020, please email Sarah Brandt for more information!
