Collection Development Guide: Accounting: Program Purpose and Description

Program Mission

The mission of the Accounting Department is to develop in its students the skills and abilities necessary for a successful career in the accounting profession. To accomplish this mission, the faculty combine effective teaching with professional interaction, service, and a mix of intellectual activities including basic research, applied scholarship, and instructional development. The Department strives for quality in the bachelor and master level degree programs which prepare students for careers in public practice, private industry, government, and not-for-profit organizations.

 

 

Library will purchase material at the Instructional level (2), for the library’s collection in support of the following degreed programs:

 

 

1.     MA, Master of Accountancy

 

2.     MS, Master of Accounting and Information Technology

 

3.     BBA, with a major in Accounting

 

4.    The department will also purchase Accounting related material in support of the Latin American Business Certification Program at the Instructional level (2), and will purchase material at the Research level (3) for the library in support of the Accounting dept. faculty research.
