Rules of Thumb:

Exporting citations will generate a text file in a predefined standard style.

Importing citations will pull in citations from a text file in a predefined standard style.

How to Move Content from One Site to Another

Mendeley

Export

In Desktop version, select the items to be exported.  Choose File>Export (or Ctrl+C) to export.

Import

Mendeley Desktop: Import citations by choosing File> Import> choose format of text file to import.

Mendeley Web: Use Web Importer or bookmarklet.


Refworks

Export

Go to References>Export> and choose the correct format from the pull down menus.



Import

Go to References>Import> and choose the correct format from the pull down menus.


Zotero

Export

In Web Zotero, Click on the Export button on the right side, then choose from the menu.



In Zotero Standalone & Firefox Extension, choose File>Export Library>format of your choice.



Import

In Zotero Standalone, choose Import>and then choose file to import into library.




CiteULike

Export

Choose the format you want for exporting your CiteULike library.


Import

Import a formatted txt file or paste snippets from the txt file.
