Distance Education Services and Research Assistance: Getting help

This guide will provide information about library services and research assistance for students in Texas State University classes at a distance

Getting more help...

If you have specific questions about citing your sources, writing tips, or help with editing, you can go to the following places on campus for more assistance.

Student Learning Assistance Center (SLAC)

Get in-person tutoring at the Student Learning Assistance Center, or SLAC, located on the 4th floor of Alkek Library. Check the website for hours and availability. SLAC also maintains good handout page for quick reference.

Texas State University Writing Center

The Writing Center is located on the first floor of ASB North. You can get help with all types of writing, including papers, essays, and resumes. The Writing Center  offers in-person and online tutoring (check their website for more information). You can also print out documentation handouts. Round Rock patrons can seek assistance from the Round Rock Writing Center.

Subject Librarians

Did you know that every academic department at Texas State has a librarian? You can contact your subject liaison for assistance with your research.

Ask a Librarian & Research Help

You can use the Ask a Librarian
service for questions about library resources, research assignments or other information. We offer Chat, Text,
or you can also email a question to us. Turn around for email is quick, usually w/in a few hours or by the next day if sent in after 9pm.

You can also make an online or face to face appointment with a reference librarian.  Here's more information about scheduling an individual research consultation.
