Coloring: Stress Relief in an Academic Library: Creating Flyers & Branding

This guide is for the Texas Library Association's District 3 Fall Meeting on October 7, 2016 breakout presentation by Megan Ballengee and Liz Sisemore.

Promotion and Outreach

For our stress relief events during finals, we created large format posters, flyers, handouts, and social media posts to advertise these library events.  The large format poster on the left was created with Adobe InDesign and is roughly 30"x 18".  The poster was created for the Government Information display and student workers in the department colored in the sign and doodled on it.

Though we have attended new professional development session about university branding, we are still working on creating a consistent, uniform look for our outreach materials. The university does have branding and style guides, but the library itself only has the requirement to include a small logo with official promotional materials.  Currently we use the Texas State University Alkek Library logo created by the Texas State Marketing Department on all promotional and outreach materials.
