Multicultural Curriculum Transformation and Research Institute (MCTRI): Home

This guide to multicultural research resources at Alkek Library and beyond was created for participants in the Multicultural Curriculum Transformation Institute.

The Center for Multicultural and Gender Studies (CMGS) sponsors the Multicultural Curriculum Transformation and Research Institute and assists faculty with resources to encourage the infusion of multiculturalism through its Resource Center with over 300 books, articles, syllabi, and tapes. The CMGS Resource Center of Web and Print resources includes key resources in the Center. In addition, the web page includes links to key resources related to the study of diversity.

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a free lending service available to current Texas State students and employees. ILL borrows items from other libraries that Alkek Library does not own such as journal articles, books, DVDs, CDs—anything you might need for your research.

Use the online Interlibrary Loan request system ILLiad to order your ILL items. Enter as much information as you know about the item you need, and the ILL staff will try to track it down.

Depending on the type of item you're requesting, turnaround times vary—to be safe, plan to wait a few business days for an article and at least a week for a book.

If you need help with making an ILL request or have questions about the process, call the ILL office at 512.245.4893.

Start Your Research

  • The Start Your Research (SYR) search tool is a quick way to start your research on a topic and see all the resources the library has to offer on it. The SYR Advanced Search menu can sometimes be more helpful.
  • A recommended search by subject area and to include (diversity, multiculturalism, and culture) may look like THIS.
  • Check the Full-Text (Online) box if you want quick access to a whole article, ebook, or other electronic resource on your topic.
