How to Search in the Databases

Maximize your keyword searches with Boolean searching. 

AND: motivat* AND employ*
OR: employees OR personnel

NOT: internet NOT "social network"

Use "quotation marks" to search for whole phrases. 

Use the database’s built in limiting features. Some databases have a filter for full-text or peer review. 

Consider truncation. The symbol used is usually *.

MOTIVAT* will retrieve: motivate, motivatedmotivation, motivating 

Check Subject terms to see if there are any synonym terms to consider.
