Animal Genetics: Cite Your Sources

Texas State University librarians have created a guide compiling guides regarding different citation styles.  The library also has an online copy of the CSE Manual you can use for your assignments.

Have a lot of citations you want to enter in your works cited/references list? Try a citation manager.

Do you need the Web or Desktop version?

• Organize your research Include citations while you write your paper
• Build a bibliography in a variety of formats
• Import references from library databases and Google Scholar.

It's important to know the parts of a citation so you can interpret it correctly. You must have at least the Journal name, volume, issue, and page number to be able to locate the article.

If you have specific questions about citing your sources, writing tips, or help with editing, you can go to the following places on campus for more assistance.

Student Learning Assistance Center (SLAC)

Get in-person tutoring at the Student Learning Assistance Center, or SLAC, located on the 4th floor of Alkek Library. Check the website for hours and availability.

SLAC also maintains good handout page for quick reference.

Texas State University Writing Center

The Writing Center is located on the first floor of ASB North. You can get help with all types of writing, including papers, essays, and resumes.

The Writing Center offers in-person and online tutoring (check their website for more information). 

Round Rock patrons can seek assistance from the Round Rock Writing Center.
