Collection Development Guide: Biology: Selection Criteria

Selection Criteria

The Library will purchase material at the Exhaustive Level (4) for the library's collection in support of the following degreed program. 
  • Ph.D. in Aquatic Resources
The library will purchase material at the Research Level (3) for the library's collection in support of the following degreed programs.
  • Master of Arts;
  • Master of Science in Aquatic Resources; 
  • Master of Education in Biology (non-thesis);
  • Master of Science in Wildlife Ecology,
  • Master of Science in Population and Conservation Biology.
The library will purchase material at the Instruction Level (2) for the library's collection in support of the following degreed programs. 
  • Bachelor of Science in Biology with majors in Aquatic Biology, Microbiology, and Wildlife Biology.
The departmental allocation may be used to purchase material at the Research Level (3) for the library in support of the department's faculty research needs. Collection efforts will concentrate on, but are not limited to the following:
  • General Biology
  • Aquatic Biology
  • Aquatic Systems
  • Evolution
  • Genetics
  • Ecology
  • Wildlife ecology
  • Botany
  • Plant physiology
  • Plant ecology
  • Zoology
  • Animal behavior
  • Physiology
  • Microbiology
  • Microbial ecology
  • Biology, Teacher Certification, Grades 7-12
