Serial Set Guide from Proquest: Sample Documents

The Serial Set includes over 300,000 U.S. Government titles and is a gold mine of primary source materials for research and study.

About the citations used on this page

On this page you'll see citations to documents including:   8388 S.rp.1255 and 14716 H.doc.118.   The first number is the volume in the Serial Set that the item comes from, the rest of the citation references the specific report.   There are more than 15,000 volumes in the Serial Set and approximately 400,000 individual reports and documents.

The American State Papers, or ASP, contain 38 volumes in ten series. Citations here look like ASP05 For.rel.416 or ASP012 Fin.683.  The ASP followed by the number represent which of the 38 volumes the item may be found in.  The rest of of the citation represents the series (Foreign Relations and Finances are represented here) and the publication number.

In the ProQuest Congressional these citations may be found in the field noted as Serial Set ID.
