A course guide to library resources for Prof. Shelley Jackson's MFA Communication Design Students in Modernism and Design

Understanding a Journal Citation

You'll see something like this:

It's important to know the parts of a citation so you can interpret it correctly. You must have at least the Journal name, volume, issue, and page number to be able to locate the article.

Citation Style

Here is the link to our Writing & Citation Style Guide where you can get handouts with Examples for different writing styles including APA.

The library has copies of the APA manual at that are available for use in the library that you can check out at the Research & Information Desk and some copies that are on the 5th floor available for normal check out. The handouts and links to examples on the Writing and Citation Styles Guide don't have the entire contents of the APA or MLA manual.

A Note about Plagiarism

It is important to cite your sources properly. If you want to learn more about avoiding plagiarism, read the Plagiarism Guide.
