Four Ways to Add Content

There are four ways to easily add references into your Zotero library.

  1. Use the Zotero Browser Connector with library databases.
  2. Drag a PDF into the Zotero app
  3. Enter the ISBN of a book or the DOI number of an article to the Zotero app
  4. Manually enter the citation into the Zotero app

1. Using the Connector:

  • Open the Zotero program or app
  • Make sure the connector (extension) is enabled and pinned to the bar
  • Find or choose your item
    • library database: article, ebook, data set
    • browser: article link, PDF, etc

The image below shows that:

  • I am using JSTOR database
  • I've selected an article
  • my Zotero connector is pinned to the top bar
  • and "Save to Zotero" shows the program is connected

  • Once your article/item is open, click the paper icon (extension)

Next, open the Zotero program

  • The same article will appear with the citation information
  • The categories show: title, creator, and the paperclip icon shows the content format (PDF)
