Four Ways to Add Content
There are four ways to easily add references into your Zotero library.
- Use the Zotero Browser Connector with library databases.
- Drag a PDF into the Zotero app
- Enter the ISBN of a book or the DOI number of an article to the Zotero app
- Manually enter the citation into the Zotero app
Using the Connector:
- Open the Zotero program or app
- Make sure the connector (extension) is enabled and pinned to the bar
- Find or choose your item
- library database: article, ebook, data set
- browser: article link, PDF, etc
The image below shows that:
- I am using JSTOR database
- I've selected an article
- my Zotero connector is pinned to the top bar
- and "Save to Zotero" shows the program is connected
- Once your article/item is open, click the paper icon (extension)
Next, open the Zotero program
- The same article will appear with the citation information
- The categories show: title, creator, and the paperclip icon shows the content format (PDF)
Connector not working?
- Grab the ISBN or DOI from the item or article
- Select the wand tool (icon) in Zotero
- copy/paste the number
- It will populate the citation information
