Finding and Evaluating Web Sources: Home

One of the very first things we librarians tell incoming freshmen is that WIkipedia is not an appropriate source for university-level research. That's true. But too many students take that a step further and assume that they can't use anything on the Internet.

Online content has a bad reputation for being inaccurate and biased, but there is a lot of high quality, up-to-date information available via web sources.

This guide will give some tips on how to find research sources online and how to evaluate them to ensure you only use the best possible content.

• All current Texas State students and employees are eligible.
• Cards are valid for 1 long semester.
• Materials must be returned to the same library from which they were borrowed.
• You are responsible for any charges for lost or damaged materials. 
• Students that do not return items will have "holds" placed on their records. This will prevent you from registering for classes, obtaining transcripts or grades, etc.
