PYRAMID OF EVIDENCE

Pyramid of evidence with the following categories from bottom to top:  Animal Studies/Laboratory Studies, Case Series/Case Reports, Cross-Sectional Studies, Case Control Studies, Cohort Studies, Randomized Controlled Studies, Systematic Reviews, Meta-Analysis.  The following text is situation between a double sided arrow "Amount of Information," and the following text is displayed on the side of the pyramid with an arrow pointing to the top "Quality of Information." Each section of the pyramid is grouped into three categories identified on the side of the pyramid Observational Studies for the first five categories, Experimental Studies for the Randomized Controlled Trials category, and Synthesized evidence for the last two categories at the top of the pyramid.
