Keeping track of all the moving pieces in a research project can be stressful. The University Libraries can set you up for success with the various aspects of your research project including the Data Management Plan (DMP) to help get you started and to stay on track, as well as data collection and storage best practices. The Office of Research supports ongoing grant management and ethics and compliance considerations.
Metadata is the data that you use to describe and document the research data that you have collected. Without description, data is hard to understand and use.
Managing digital files throughout the digital object life cycle is essential to ensure current usability as well as continued access and long-term preservation. Digital stewardship addresses activities related to the care and management of digital objects over time such as digital asset conception, creation, appraisal, storage, accessibility, and preservation.

High Performance Computing (HPC)
The LEAP2 HPC Cluster at Texas State University represents a major leap in computational power, offering 338 TFlops capacity with 5808 processors across 121 servers. It features 108 compute nodes with 256 GBs memory and 400 GBs SSD storage, two large memory nodes with 1.5TB, and 8 GPU nodes with Nvidia A100 GPUs.
The system includes a 1.5 PB GPFS file system and HDR InfiniBand with 100Gb/sec bandwidth, supporting 21 departments and various users in research and education. It's pivotal for research in genomics, evolutionary biology, materials science, and computational fluid dynamics, and also enhances computational research training and academic courses.
Individual College and TXST Unit staff are highly involved with many aspects of award management and the spending of funds, such as hiring and the approval of travel reimbursements. Some Colleges / Units have dedicated PostAward Research Coordinators, others have PostAward duties delegated to other staff, and all will coordinate with the Office of Sponsored Programs as part of account access. Even before an award, as part of sound grant planning, it is highly recommended that you reach out to your College to determine who will assist you with the spending of funds so that they can provide advice on the proper procedures and the minimum time needed for approval.
