Research Data Management

Data Lab - ALK 452

The Data Lab provides the hardware and software you need for modern data management, data analysis, and visualization. It includes tools such as IBM SPSS, NVivo, and R, supporting both quantitative and qualitative research projects. In addition, the lab offers all the hardware and software required for modern GIS workflows, including ArcGIS. The lab is available during the library’s open hours.

Lab Guidelines

GIS & Data Lab Guidelines

  • You must be a student, faculty, or staff of Texas State University with a valid NetID. A login is required to access all applications on the computers.
  • You must have a personal storage device (e.g., external hard drive, portable hard drive, flash drive) to save/store all projects. All data left on workstations will be automatically deleted after sign out.
  • No food or drink (covered or uncovered) is allowed in the lab. No exceptions.
  • The GIS & Data Lab is open to all forms of research and academic work, but when space is limited, priority is given to patrons needing geospatial or data applications for their project.

All patrons must follow University Libraries’ general policies while using the lab.
