University Libraries: Researcher Support

Guidance on support and resources through the University Libraries for researchers at all stages of the research lifecycle process.

Open Education

Open Education is an aspect of Open Scholarship that supports student-centered instruction - utilizing tools, resources, and practices that are open (free from monetary, legal, and other limitations) to bridge the gaps of access, equity, and representation. This is done through the use of Open Educational Resources and the practice of Open pedagogy.

Experts in open educational resources and open pedagogy provide answers to your questions about student centered pedagogical practices, finding resources that increase equity, accessibility, and reduce cost, and developing new resources in the Open Education ecosystem through platforms, such as Pressbooks. Available for instruction, workshops, consultations, and partnerships, our experts are excited to collaborate and innovate as we Run for R1 together!

Open Educational Resources

Open Educational Resources (OER) are materials that support learning – from textbooks to videos to digital learning objects to practice problems. These resources support teaching and learning in classrooms across the nation, and the globe. Once an OER is created it is involved in the ecosystem of the 5Rs: Retain, Reuse, Remix, Revise, Redistribute.

Open Pedagogy

Open Pedagogy centers students as creators, not just consumers, of knowledge. In practice, this means faculty (you!) create learning experiences where students demonstrate understanding through the act of creating learning objects for others.

Pressbooks

Pressbooks is a platform where you can create original content, remix existing content, and leverage the platform to engage in open pedagogical practices. From student written chapters and books to H5P activities that engage scholars in new ways, Pressbooks offers you modality flexibility, academic freedom, and a wide reach. See what other scholars are working on by taking a look through the Pressbooks Directory.
