Biography

Dr. Bill Brunson (1924–1988) was born in Chico, Texas, and received his BA (1950), MA (1951), and PhD (1960) degrees from Texas Technical College (now Texas Tech University). Brunson taught at Del Mar College before joining Southwest Texas State College's history department in 1965. Along with teaching, Brunson published a number of writings, including his book, The Texas Land and Development Company.

Dr. Bill Brunson talks about his early teaching at Delmar College before applying for a job at Southwest Texas State Teachers College. He describes what Southwest Texas was like when he first began teaching in 1960, touching on important moments such as the creation of a separate history department. Brunson discusses the books that he's written, both published and unpublished. He also mentions his religious faith, his military service, and his musical hobbies.
