Before beginning your submission, it’s important to identify the correct path based on the type of academic work you are completing. Vireo 4 supports submissions for both graduate-level theses and dissertations as well as undergraduate capstone projects. Each path follows a distinct set of requirements and approval processes, but all approved works will be deposited in the TXST Digital Repository.
If you are completing a master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation, you will submit your work under the oversight of the Graduate College. The Graduate College establishes formatting requirements, approval workflows, and final deadlines for graduate-level submissions.
Key Points:
Follow the Graduate College’s official guidelines for document formatting and submission.
You must select an embargo option during submission. Choices include:
No Embargo (Immediate Access)
1-Year Embargo
2-Year Embargo
5-Year Embargo (typically reserved for works involving patents or intellectual property considerations)
Faculty advisors and committee members will review and approve your submission through Vireo.
Final approved submissions are deposited in the TXST Digital Repository.

Consider an embargo if you plan to publish your work in a journal or other venue before public release (or if it contains sensitive information or pending intellectual property). Please note that even if an embargo is selected, the metadata for your work—including the title, author, abstract, and keywords—will be publicly available in the university’s digital repository. Only the full text (PDF) of your work will remain inaccessible until the embargo period expires.
If you’re unsure which path applies to you, consult your academic advisor or contact the appropriate college before beginning the submission process.
