The College Grants

This database provides information regarding college financial aid, grants, and scholarships that are available and aimed at first generation students. 

Federal Pell Grant

Under Federal Student Aid in the Office of the U.S. Department of Education, “Federal Pell Grants usually are awarded only to undergraduate students who display exceptional financial need and have not earned a bachelor's, graduate, or professional degree.” (Source: The Federal Student Aid)

Gilman International Scholarship

This U.S. Department of State scholarship program assists students with study abroad and international internship opportunities.  “By supporting undergraduate students who have high financial need, the program has been successful in supporting students who have been historically underrepresented in education abroad, including but not limited to first-generation college students, ethnic minority students, students with disabilities, students attending HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) or other minority-serving institutions, students attending community colleges, rural students, and students coming from U.S. states with less study abroad participation.” (Source: Benjamin A. Jack Kent Cooke Foundation

“The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation is dedicated to advancing the education of exceptionally promising students who have financial need.” (Source: Jack Kent Cooke Foundation) This foundation offers the Young Scholars Program, College Scholarship Program, and Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. 

Nursing Scholarships for First Generation College Students

These scholarships are aimed for first-generation students who are pursuing a nursing degree and profession. 

United Negro College Fund (UNCF)

UNCF provides a financial guide for first-generation African American students. who are attending at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs).
