Special Collections and Archives connects researchers to rare and unique materials that document the history and people of Texas State University and the surrounding region, as well as valuable research collections.

We collect and preserve:

  • University records, including publications and photographs
  • Historical manuscripts and rare books
  • Maps, yearbooks, audio/visual materials, and more

Our collections support a wide range of topics, from university milestones to Texas history to regional and academic research.

Getting Started with Archival Research

Archival research is a journey into primary sources- original materials created in the course of daily life. These materials are unique, often unpublished, and irreplaceable.
